The weather was perfect, winds just right, good sunlight, no excuses. This was the right place at the right time. Celebrity fly tyer Terry and Sara had booked this week at BRL a few months before, now they were here, all the problems of the whole world left behind. No world wide news to listen to for a whole week!
Terry was looking forward to any kind of action while fishing at BRL. He had caught a grand slam once before and he had all the right equipment and skills. So he went fishing with our guide and caught two SUPER SLAMS: Permit, Snook, Bonefish and Tarpon. He finished the second Super Slam with a 20 lb Permit – way to go Terry!!! Each individual catch was an exciting fishing experience and with photos of each fish, all were successfully released. All together a great job by angler and guide.
While her husband was enjoying the fishing Sara went scuba diving and did the Scuba Super Slam: Barrier Reef, Turneffe, Lighthouse Reef and the Blue Hole. Then taking a day off from the sea, together they also enjoyed an inland road and river guided tour to the famous Lamanai ancient Maya site. The fishing, the diving, the tour and the great food and service at BRL brought firm promises for their return.
During the past few weeks a few other Grand Slams, many small tarpon, several tarpon 80-130 pounds and the usual spate of bonefish were also landed by other anglers.
Snook fishing has also been very good with some catches pushing 16 pounds. Ladyfish, cobia, cudas, jacks, cubera and other snappers were also caught to round out our normal variety package.
