Hello friends,
Being positive people, every day we look for the moments to make us smile and enjoy life, even when times are not normal. Due to Hurricane Eta and Iota the rivers all over Belize flooded, so the Lodge flooded in the back from the Sibun and front from the Belize Olde River. We again looked like we were built on a lake, however the positive side, the waters were far from entering any of the buildings.
One afternoon, we looked out out back and saw Roosevelt in the canoe, it was so adorable that Mike snapped some photographs and Marguerite wrote a little story that we want to share.
The adventure or saga continues. Sending a few photos from Belize.
Meet our practicing tour guide giving Happy and Lucky, our two guests at the moment (smile), a tour of the property. As you can see they are enjoying the flora and the fauna from a different angle while paddling in the back of the property. Both Happy and Lucky have never seen anything like this and are most probably wondering what is going on? In the meantime they have been enjoying themselves running and swimming through the water. Today, they are taking a break and are enjoying a ride instead. To be continued …
Belize has also had none-stop rain which started Eta and then Iota which has caused a lot of flooding in Central America including Belize. We are blessed that even though there has been flooding across the country and the river has been in flood we can still marvel at the wonderful adventures we experience.
For example, Mr. & Mrs. Sapo (Frog) while they were sitting and waiting for the water to go down had the opportunity to see rolling Tarpon. At the same time, they were enjoying the new view, and in its own way their view is always beautiful.
Now it is a matter of patience as we wait for the river to subside and the rains to stop. In the meantime, we have been cleaning to keep everything up to the Gold Standard. We are looking forward to a cold front which is supposed to come in, over the next few days. The cold front should have a good effect and cause the water to go down. 2020 has truly been a year full of surprises. We wish everyone happiness and good health. Stay safe.
Warm regards,
Mike, Marguerite
& the Belize River Lodge Crew
PS
With the hurricanes and flooding, we rescheduled guests and so no one has been fishing, so no new fish pictures to share. We hope you enjoy our little stories until you are back and fishing.
