To Wish Upon A Star

Star light, star bright, the first start I see tonight; I wish I may, I wish I might, have the wish I wish tonight.”   ~ By Anonymous

To Wish Upon A Star

We made it through Christmas and had a very quiet and peaceful day and everyone “social distanced” and stayed at home. Our normal Christmases at the Lodge have always involved many family and friends visiting from lunch onward, with more stopping by throughout the day for lunch or a glass of RumPopo and a slice of cake. The following week was a short one and the New Year came in with everyone “zooming” with other family members instead of looking at the Crystal Ball Drop in New York at midnight on December 31st 2020 or celebrating together at one of the many festive events which ring in the new year. Before you know it, here we are in 2021!

What a different life we have been living this past year. Now is the time to stop and reflect on the past year. Now is the time to give thanks to God for all His wonderful blessings and the fact that we have adjusted to all the changes, the new norm, the cautions and precautions that we practice. These have helped us to survive and to be alive to welcome 2021. We have entered a New Year and are leaving behind a very different and difficult year, 2020. We enter 2021 with positive thoughts, wishes and hope that 2021 will be a better year and realize that it may never be the same again, as we knew it. However, on the winter Solstice, December 21, 2020, Jupiter and Saturn, two planets came together on the darkest night of a dark year. Together they became one and appeared like one bright star in the sky. Together they lit up the heavenly skies and became the “Christmas Star” or the “Star of Bethlehem” the same star the three Wise Men bearing gifts followed in search of their new born King. As they traveled in the dark, the “Star of Bethlehem” was a light to the path they traveled and filled their hearts with wonderful, deep Hope that the sign in the heavens would lead them to the “Hope of Mankind”.

On this January 6, 2021, it is especially important to us as this year we got to experience the hope, and love and joy as the Wise Men did so many years ago. The “Star of Bethlehem” was a sign that brought Hope to so many that tomorrow will be better! Together we will make it through these crazy times. With this in mind, we prepare to celebrate Epiphany on January 6th to bring gifts of love and hope, to share and help the needy. To give prayers in Thanksgiving for all our many blessings, to give thanks for health and life, family and friends and of course all the little children of the world. For these little children are our hope and our future.

Warmest thoughts and best wishes for a Happy New Year. May peace, love, and prosperity follow you always,

Warm regards,

Mike, Marguerite

& the BRL Team

An Amusing Note: Marguerite has been humming the song from Disney’s Pinocchio, “When You Wish Upon a Star” for the last few weeks, and this song has given her so much inspiration for writing this email. We would like to share the lyrics of Disney’s “When You Wish Upon A Star” as many people know the tune, but not the actual words, and this song says so much. We send the Hope that all your wishes come true.

When You Wish Upon A Star

When you wish upon a star
Makes no difference who you are
Anything your heart desires
Will come to you

If your heart is in your dream
No request is too extreme
When you wish upon a star
As dreamers do

Fate is kind
She brings to those who love
The sweet fulfillment of
Their secret longing

Like a bolt out of the blue
Fate steps in and sees you through
When you wish upon a star
Your dreams come true
